Following the enactment of the Decree of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of December 23, 2010, after the Decree Law no. 78 of May 31, 2010 (converted into Law 122 of July 30, 2010), ISAE - the Italian Institute for Studies and Economic Analyses - ceased to exist on December 31, 2010.

With effect from 1 January 2011, many of the scientific and institutional functions carried out by ISAE were transferred to Istat: in particular, forecasting and short, medium and long- term economic analysis as well as study of macro- and microeconomics of public finance and of development policies of economic, social and territorial cohesion. All remaining functions related to ISAE’s asset management, however, were taken over by the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
